Two New Blur Tracks: Under The Westway & The Puritan

Blur streamed two new tracks today, both of which are very different. ‘Under The Westway’ is a melancholy and beautiful track that most fans will love. ‘The Puritan’ is such a playful track, fit with pop beats and a gleaming dance side. This is seriously such an awesome track and as a longtime fan, I love it. It remains to be seen if they will record again, but Damon Albarn made positive noises on Zane Lowe’s radio showI am hoping for a record anyway.

Track: Kwes-‘bashful.’

Kwes will be a new name to some. He’s a British multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. He will be known to some for being part of Damon Albarn‘s DRC Music project last year. This tune ‘bashful.’ is absolutely great stuff. There are touches of R’N’B, Hip-Hop and Chillwave in this. You will hear more from this guy in the coming weeks.

Damon Albarn Says Blur Have Been Recording

According to an interview done with NME and as reported on their website, Damon Albarn has said that Blur have made up recently and have been recording. The band recorded a spoken word piece with poet Michael Horovitz as a response to the threat of the Notting Hill Carnival being cancelled. “If they’d have cancelled the carnival – and thank God they didn’t – maybe we’d have put it out. It had its moment: it was a perfect plea to reinstate the carnival. So it wasn’t relevant – it was relevant for about 12 hours.”

Albarn said that there may be plans for a Blur tour in 2012, possibly outside the UK. The Gorillaz frontman has been very busy recently, with his new group Rocketjuice & The Moon playing their first shows over the weekend and also posting tracks online.
