Track: The Walkmen-‘We Can’t Be Beat’

Another new track off The Walkmen’s new album ‘Heaven’. ‘We Can’t Be Beat’ is a mostly acoustic track, which simmers along beautifully. As I’ve said already, I am stoked for this record.

The Walkmen-‘Heaven’

Well it is here. I for one have been waiting for this for a long while. The new Walkmen track ‘Heaven.’ It is beautiful, heart-wrenching, thoughtful and honest. Everything from the percussion, simple guitar riffs and poetic lyrics make this essential. I am absolutely yearning for this record.

New Walkmen Album On The Way

Brilliant news that The Walkmen have recorded a new album. ‘Heaven’ is out on June 5th. I absolutely adore this band, although I only became aware of them in early 2011. Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold features on the record, so it ticks all the boxes so far. I cannot wait for this. The trailer has wetted my appetite already. I’ve posted it below, along with my favourite Walkmen track.

The Top Ten Albums Of 2011: Number 6

Number 6: Fleet Foxes-Helplessness Blues

Fleet Foxes second album is a lot more reflective then the first, also a lot darker. As usual, there are beautiful harmonies and strong lyrics. A band who have taken their strengths and improved on them, a superb album.

The Top 20 Tracks Of 2011 Number: 15

Number 15: Fleet Foxes-A Shrine/An Argument

Fleet Foxes were always going to face comparisons to their major single ‘White Winter Hymnal.’ With ‘A Shrine’ they gave us a completely different side to their music. A much darker, reflective track, they also produced a similar record. ‘Helplessness Blues’ was one of the finest records of the year and this track was the highlight.
