New Bloody Beetroots-‘Rocksteady’

New music from The Bloody Beetroots seems to be on the way. Here’s their new one ‘Rocksteady’. Glad they’re back, spent many a party in 2008/2009 with these guys as these guys as the soundtrack.

The Antlers-‘Drift Dive’

Man, this new piece of music by The Antlers is so damn good. I don’t use the word dreamy often, but that would describe this. ‘Drift Dive’ has possibly the most dreamy guitar riff of the year so far, has chilled out vocals and a beautiful crescendo of piano, drums and strings in the background. There is a lot of music that can be described as ‘beachy’, but this is beachy in a different way. I could easily imagine floating down a stream with this playing. Best track of the week for me.

New Songs From The xx Online

The xx have been back playing live, with dates in London warming up for their summer festival shows. During these shows, they have performed two new songs, presumably from their upcoming second record. Both tracks are very sparse and low key. Obviously I will leave judgment until the recorded versions are released, but the live versions are below.

Track: The Walkmen-‘We Can’t Be Beat’

Another new track off The Walkmen’s new album ‘Heaven’. ‘We Can’t Be Beat’ is a mostly acoustic track, which simmers along beautifully. As I’ve said already, I am stoked for this record.

Track: New Gaslight Anthem-’45’

Zane Lowe premiered ’45’, the new single by The Gaslight Anthemlast night on his BBC Radio 1 show. As you would expect, this is full of emotion but is very hard hitting also. I’ve been a massive fan of these guys since the ’59 Sound’ and its been great to see their progression. The band’s fourth record will be released in the summer of 2012 at some stage. Brian Fallon’s interview with Lowe was funny, as he said even Bruce Springsteen hasn’t received a copy of it! One to certainly look forward to.

Track: St. Vincent-‘Krokodil’

And people said St. Vincent couldn’t be heavy! This record day release is a serious piece of music, showing a side to Annie Clark we might not have imagined. Hard hitting and manic, a very pleasant surprise.
