Now this I really like. I wasn’t sure about the first new xx track, but I love the second one released ‘Chained’. It feels like a real progression. Its a similar sound that we’re familiar with, but it is more refined and tight. The vocals are smooth. But of course its Jamie xx’s beats always do it for me. What an incredible talent this guy is.

The xx are back with a new album, tour and this new track, ‘Angels’. It is the opening song on their second LP ‘Coexist’, out September 10th over here. It is nothing majorly new from them, the same dark and tender sound. But that is not a bad thing, because their sound is just so fantastic. I expect the album to be a lot more groundbreaking.

The xx have been back playing live, with dates in London warming up for their summer festival shows. During these shows, they have performed two new songs, presumably from their upcoming second record. Both tracks are very sparse and low key. Obviously I will leave judgment until the recorded versions are released, but the live versions are below.
The Electric Picnic initial line-up has been announced. The Cure, Grizzly Bear, Azealia Banks, The xx, Orbital, Elbow, Hot Chip, Sigur Ros and The Roots have all been announced. It is an exciting list so far. I am definitely excited to see who else is added. I speculated about The Cure being lined up a few months back and it turns out it was true.

The British record label Young Turks guest hosted a show on Australian Radio. It featured a version of the Jamie xx track ‘Touch Me.’ A version of the song appeared online before, but this one seems a little different. It appears 49 minutes in.

Mercury-Prize winning band ‘The xx’ will make their live return at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona, which will take place May 30 – June 3, 2012. The band, who are recording their second album, will be playing new tracks. Among the acts already announced include Bjork, Beach House and Death Cab For Cutie. Watch the video for Crystalised below:
Rihanna has sampled The xx for her new album ‘Talk That Talk’. The track titled ‘Drunk On Love’ samples ‘Intro’ by the English band. To hear a thirty second leak, go over to Popjustice.
